Happy holidays to you

Things are winding down here on the farm, now that we have snow cover.  It’s always nice to see the field blanketed with a lovely white comforter of snow.  All tucked in for a long winter’s night, so to speak.

That being said, I’m really excited about the 2010 season.  The anemones and ranunculus are big and hunky, as are the delphiniums.  Some new crops for next year are stock and poppies, which will bloom in the spring, and football mums for later in the year.  Maybe the coming season will be less waterlogged than “09 and things will be back to normal.  In any event, I’m revamping my field layout and growing everything in raised beds.  I’m pretty tired of crops drowning after 2 seasons of rain.  Of course, my new plan pretty much guarantees a drought but, hey, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

I’ll keep you posted on what’s growing as the winter progresses.  In the meantime, I hope you all have a lovely Christmas.
